The Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) is the premier professional women's basketball league in the United States. Founded in 1996, the league began play in 1997 and features many of the sport's most successful franchises, including the New York Liberty, Las Vegas Aces, Minnesota Lynx, Phoenix Mercury, Seattle Storm, and Indiana Fever.

The WNBA season runs from spring through autumn, followed by the WNBA Playoffs, where the league's top teams compete for the championship. Games are played at arenas such as Barclays Center, Michelob ULTRA Arena, Target Center, Footprint Center, and Climate Pledge Arena.

The league is home to many of the world's biggest basketball stars, including Caitlin Clark, A'ja Wilson, Breanna Stewart, Sabrina Ionescu, Napheesa Collier, Angel Reese, and Paige Bueckers, alongside legendary players such as Diana Taurasi, Sue Bird, Candace Parker, and Lisa Leslie. Widely regarded as the world's leading women's basketball league, the WNBA attracts elite talent from across the globe and remains the highest level of professional women's basketball.
