The Scottish international forward swaps north London for Tyneside after three years with Spurs.
Newcastle United have snapped up forward Martha Thomas on a permanent deal from Tottenham Hotspur. Not a bad way to spend a Wednesday.
The 30-year-old Scottish international arrives after three seasons in north London, where she bagged 13 goals in 66 outings. She was also part of the Spurs side that reached the Adobe Women's FA Cup final in 2023/2024 - so she knows her way to a big occasion.
Thomas has hardly been short of clubs on her CV. Before Spurs, she turned out for Manchester United, and her career has also taken her to Le Havre, West Ham United and Liverpool. A proper football tourist, if you will.
On the international stage, she's been capped 52 times by Scotland, netting 21 goals along the way. That's a record most strikers would happily frame and hang on the wall.
Thomas has spoken of her excitement at joining the Magpies, expressing a desire to make a meaningful impact both on and off the pitch, as WSL Full-Time reports. Newcastle will be hoping that experience and goal-scoring instinct translate quickly at their end.
