Skinner Exits Manchester United Women

Five Years and Done

Marc Skinner has packed his bags at Manchester United Women. The head coach's departure was confirmed today, bringing the curtain down on a half-decade spell at the club.

Rather awkwardly, Skinner only signed a fresh two-year deal last summer. So much for long-term planning.

What He Left Behind

To be fair, Skinner's CV at United reads rather well. He guided the side to their first ever major trophy - the Women's FA Cup in 2024 - and reached three consecutive finals in that competition.

United finished as Women's Super League runners-up in 2023 and made it to the Champions League quarter-finals and League Cup final last season. A fourth-place WSL finish in the most recent campaign, however, meant no European football next time around.

Parting on Good Terms

The club issued a statement thanking Skinner for his professionalism, dedication, and contributions throughout his tenure, wishing him well for whatever comes next.

Timing Is Everything

The exit leaves United scrambling slightly. Their WSL season opener against London City Lionesses is pencilled in for 4 September - barely a month away. Matches against Chelsea and Arsenal follow shortly after. Someone had better start updating their LinkedIn.
