FC Bayern Frauen have kicked off their 2026/27 campaign preparations on a high note, with Lena Oberdorf rejoining team training following her knee injury. The midfielder took part in the majority of the squad's first public session, though she steered clear of direct physical challenges as a precaution.

Giulia Gwinn, meanwhile, continues her individual rehabilitation after shoulder surgery and will sit out the club's upcoming Asia tour.

Dominant Bayern Eye Fifth Straight Title

Bayern head into the new season as overwhelming favourites. Four consecutive Bundesliga titles - and five in the past six years - make them the undisputed force in German women's football, with Gwinn and Klara Bühl spearheading a formidable roster.

VfL Wolfsburg remain the likeliest challengers, with Janina Minge central to their hopes of closing the gap.

Fresh Faces in the Bundesliga

VfB Stuttgart and 1. FSV Mainz 05 enter the top flight as promoted clubs, both having secured direct promotion last season. Survival will be the immediate priority for both.

Elsewhere, Eintracht Frankfurt face a rebuilding job after losing six key players, though the arrival of top scorer Larissa Mühlhaus offers encouragement. TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, who finished fourth last term, have also strengthened. RB Leipzig, meanwhile, look to bounce back from a difficult campaign.

Notable departures from the league include Vivien Endemann, Georgia Stanway, and Selina Cerci, while Paulina Krumbiegel joins Mühlhaus among the eye-catching new signings.

Supercup and Season Opener Ahead

Once the Asia tour and two warm-up fixtures are out of the way, Bayern will face Wolfsburg in the Supercup on 15 August before opening their Bundesliga defence away to 1. FC Union Berlin.
