Both English stars wilted under pressure in the final round at Royal Lytham & St Annes, finishing four shots behind champion Shiho Kuwaki.
Charley Hull and Lottie Woad will look back on the final round at Royal Lytham & St Annes with deep frustration. Both finished tied sixth at the AIG Women's Open - four shots adrift of winner Shiho Kuwaki.
Neither could produce the goods when it mattered most. Woad carded her first over-par round of the week. Hull started with a birdie but self-destructed with two costly double-bogeys.
Hull's tournament told a brutal story. She racked up 17 birdies across four rounds - but 12 bogeys made a mockery of that attacking intent. Woad, meanwhile, sat at three under heading into Sunday before her game fell apart.
Still, it wasn't all doom. Woad secured her fifth career top-10 finish and now has the Solheim Cup to look forward to. She'll make her debut for Team Europe next month - a stage where this kind of heartbreak could prove invaluable.
