Leipzig stalwart heads to France

Defender Victoria Krug has completed a move to FC Nantes following the expiry of her contract at RB Leipzig. The 28-year-old has penned a deal with the French club running until 30 June 2027, as Soccerdonna reports.

Five defining years in Leipzig

Krug's spell at Leipzig spanned five seasons and 114 competitive appearances, yielding four goals. The highlight came in 2022/23, when she captained the side to the 2. Bundesliga title and their maiden promotion to the top flight. She went on to feature 64 times across three Bundesliga campaigns, including all 22 league fixtures in 2025/26, starting 15 and netting once. Two DFB-Pokal outings rounded off her final season.

Roots in Potsdam and a US stint

Krug cut her teeth at 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam, turning out for their second team as a youngster and tasting Bundesliga football early. Between 2017 and 2019 she crossed the Atlantic to play for the Wake Forest Demon Deacons while studying in the United States.

Meppen stepping stone

Returning to Germany in 2020, Krug joined SV Meppen, racking up 20 league games and three DFB-Pokal ties before Leipzig came calling a year later.

Youth international pedigree

Krug earned 21 caps across Germany's youth national teams. She featured in every match as Germany reached the semi-finals of the 2015 U17 European Championship.
