Kett remains a top target for Barcelona

FC Barcelona have not given up on their pursuit of Franziska Kett, the FC Bayern München defender who turned down a move to Catalonia in recent weeks. The Spanish giants are reportedly planning a fresh approach during the winter transfer window.

Kett, still just 21, is contracted to Bayern until the summer of 2027 - but speculation over her future has intensified following social media activity suggesting she may not remain in Munich beyond February of that year.

From grassroots to Germany's elite

The defender's journey to the top started at FC Edenstetten and spVgg Grün-Weiß Deggendorf before she joined Bayern's youth academy in 2020. She climbed through the U17 ranks and into the first team, establishing herself as a key figure since breaking into the Bundesliga.

Her trophy cabinet already reads impressively: four German championships, two cup triumphs, and two Supercup titles. On the international stage, Kett debuted for the senior Germany squad in 2025 and was named in the Team of the Tournament at the 2025 European Championship.

Barcelona biding their time

Despite Kett's rejection of their initial approach, Barcelona remain confident they can convince the player to make the switch. With her Bayern deal entering its final 18 months come January, the Catalan club see the winter window as the ideal moment to try again.
