NWSL Unveils Bold 2027 Season Calendar

Super Bowl weekend kickoff

The NWSL is wasting no time making a statement with its 2027 campaign. The regular season will launch on 11 February in Los Angeles, California - strategically timed to coincide with Super Bowl weekend in a bold play for maximum eyeballs.

Challenge Cup curtain-raiser

Before the league proper gets underway, the NWSL Challenge Cup will pit the 2026 Shield winners against the 2026 Championship winners at a neutral venue still to be confirmed. That showpiece is pencilled in for a week before the season opener.

30-game balanced schedule

Every club will face each opponent home and away across a 30-match season. The final day of regular-season action falls on 31 October 2027 - dubbed 'Decision Day' - when the playoff picture will be settled.

World Cup summer pause

The league will shut down during the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup in Brazil, with an additional agreed break from 7-13 June. The scheduling is designed to reduce clashes with international commitments as much as possible.

Road to the title

Playoff first-round ties are set for 5-7 November, followed by semi-finals on 13-14 November. The NWSL Championship will be staged on Saturday 20 November, though the host venue has yet to be revealed.
