Teenage Arsenal midfielder Laila Harbert has joined San Diego Wave on a permanent deal through the 2029 NWSL season.
Arsenal academy graduate Laila Harbert is swapping north London for southern California after San Diego Wave confirmed her permanent signing. The 19-year-old midfielder has penned a deal running through the end of the 2029 NWSL season - so she'll have plenty of time to work on her tan.
Harbert turned professional with Arsenal in 2025 but spent much of her time out on loan, picking up senior minutes at Watford, Southampton, Portland Thorns, and Everton. She also made a couple of non-competitive appearances for Arsenal's first team. Not a bad CV for a teenager.
Internationally, Harbert has represented England at every youth level up to and including Under-23s - a handy credential to bring across the Atlantic.
Sporting Director and General Manager Camille Ashton hailed the signing, pointing to Harbert's technical ability and the impact she could make at the club, as reported by WSL Full-Time. San Diego will be hoping that potential translates quickly.
