Danish midfielder makes the move to Germany

Eintracht Frankfurt have completed the signing of Sofie Lundgaard from FC Liverpool. The 24-year-old Danish midfielder arrives in the Bundesliga after racking up 42 competitive appearances for the Reds, 29 of which came in the Women's Super League.

From Aalborg to the WSL

Lundgaard's professional journey began at just 16, when she debuted for Aalborg BK in 2018. A move to Fortuna Hjørring followed, where she collected both a cup and a league title before heading to England in the second half of the 2022/23 season.

International pedigree

At youth international level, she has pulled on a Denmark shirt 38 times, netting 13 goals. She will wear the number 6 at her new club.

Frankfurt's sporting director speaks

Babett Peter, Frankfurt's sporting director, said the club had tracked Lundgaard for some time and felt this was the ideal moment to bring her in. Peter praised the midfielder's versatility, noting she is equally comfortable in defensive and attacking roles, Kicker reports.
