Leaving a sinking ship

Former IK Uppsala skipper Julia Ragnarsson has completed a move to AIK - but admits the switch has left her wrestling with guilt.

Ragnarsson, who joined Uppsala back in 2020 and wore the captain's armband, decided to leave as the club battles serious financial problems. It was not an easy call.

"You feel like a traitor," she acknowledged, describing the emotional toll of walking away from teammates in the middle of a crisis, Fotbollskanalen reports.

Debut on hold

To make matters worse, Ragnarsson has yet to pull on the AIK shirt competitively. A hip flexor injury has kept her sidelined since arriving at her new club, and she is currently working through rehabilitation with no firm return date in sight.

It is a frustrating start to what she hopes will be a fresh chapter in her career - one that began under a cloud of mixed emotions and now requires patience before she can prove her worth on the pitch.
