Forward Felicia Schröder has completed a blockbuster move from BK Häcken to Real Madrid, smashing the all-time transfer record in women's football. The deal is reportedly worth 1.6 million dollars - more than 15 million kronor - making the Swede the most expensive female footballer on the planet.
BK Häcken confirmed the fee represents the highest ever paid in the women's game, as Dagens Nyheter reports.
Schröder is far from the only Swede switching clubs this summer. Hanna Bennison, who previously featured for both Real Madrid and Juventus, has joined Eintracht Frankfurt after struggling with injuries and limited minutes abroad.
Johanna Rytting Kaneryd sealed a move from Chelsea to Lyon but picked up a knee injury before she could make her debut. She will miss the start of France's top flight, which kicks off in early September.
Elsewhere, Jennifer Falk has returned to BK Häcken from Liverpool, Rosa Kafaji left Arsenal for London City Lionesses, and Emma Broddheimer made the leap from Kristianstad to Wolfsburg.
Germany's Frauen Bundesliga gets under way this weekend, with Italy's Serie A following next week. A busy summer of movement means Swedish players will be scattered across the continent's biggest leagues as the new campaign begins.
