Marta Kostyuk produced a stunning fightback to knock out fifth seed Mirra Andreeva at the Cincinnati Open, winning 4-6, 6-0, 6-2 in just 93 minutes to reach the quarter-finals.
The victory represents Kostyuk's eighth Top 10 scalp of 2026 - a tally that draws her level with Elena Rybakina and Elina Svitolina at the summit of the WTA Tour's giant-killing charts. She also extended her head-to-head dominance over Andreeva to 3-1.
After dropping the opening set, the 10th seed found her groove in devastating fashion. Her forehand became a weapon Andreeva simply could not contain, as Kostyuk reeled off all six games in the second set - the first bagel in their four career meetings.
From that point on, there was only one player in control. Kostyuk faced just two break points after the initial break and saved both, including a crucial one at 4-1 in the decider where she produced a gutsy defensive rally before hammering down two consecutive aces.
Even when Andreeva raced to 40-0 on her own serve in the final game, Kostyuk refused to blink. She clawed back every point and broke serve to seal a remarkable comeback victory.
