Mayor Nino Haase and Sports Director Daniel Köbler hosted the team at a formal reception. It was a moment of civic pride for a city now firmly on the map in women's football.
The achievement is all the more impressive given the squad's trajectory. Having entered the Regionalliga Südwest as newcomers, they finished runners-up last season - enough to clinch promotion to Germany's second-highest tier, the Google Pixel Frauen-Bundesliga.
Chairman Stefan Hofmann described the promotion as a historic moment for Mainz 05, underlining its broader significance for women's football across the region. Nadine Kreß, the club's sports director for women's and girls' football, spoke of immense pride in both the team's success and the honour of being immortalised in the Golden Book.
