Dagný Brynjarsdóttir is swapping the armband for a lanyard - sort of. The Icelandic midfielder has been named an official Club Ambassador for West Ham United, capping off a love affair with the Hammers that began back in January 2021.
Over four and a half years in east London, Brynjarsdóttir racked up 87 appearances, 68 of them in the Women's Super League. She captained the side during the 2022/23 campaign and scooped the Hammer of the Year award in 2023 - not bad for someone who also found time to announce a second pregnancy in August that year.
True to form, Brynjarsdóttir wasn't content with just nappies and night feeds. She returned to competitive football and found the net in December 2024, because apparently motherhood wasn't challenging enough on its own.
In her new role, as OneFootball reports, she'll continue representing the club and engaging with supporters. Her knowledge as a former player and skipper makes her a natural fit to champion West Ham's women's programme going forward.
