Maika Hamano is back at Chelsea and she's already making noise. The Japanese midfielder returned from a loan stint at Tottenham Hotspur and promptly found the net in a pre-season friendly against Auckland FC. Not a bad way to reintroduce yourself.
Hamano's 2025-26 campaign was a split affair. She featured in four Barclays Women's Super League matches for Chelsea, bagging a goal against Manchester City, before heading to Spurs in January. Ten appearances later, she's back where she started - and looking sharp.
This isn't someone flying under the radar. Earlier this year, Hamano struck the winner in the AFC Women's Asian Cup final as Nadeshiko Japan overcame Australia. She also claimed the Golden Ball at the 2022 FIFA U20 Women's World Cup. Big-game credentials, then.
At just £5.0m, Hamano could be a shrewd Fantasy pick, WSL Football reports. Chelsea open their season against Aston Villa - a fixture that could see her hit the ground running.
