A'ja Wilson delivered a dominant 33-point, 10-rebound performance as the Las Vegas Aces edged the New York Liberty 104-99 in a tightly contested affair.
Jackie Young was equally crucial, pouring in 27 points with nine assists. Her first half was sensational - 22 points on 7-of-9 shooting, a career best for a single half, helping Las Vegas build a 52-44 lead at the break.
The closing moments brought controversy. Wilson appeared to lose the ball out of bounds, but officials ruled possession in favour of the Aces. The Liberty, with no challenges remaining, could do nothing. Young then sealed it with four free throws and a steal.
Despite the loss, Breanna Stewart hit a personal milestone. Her 26-point, 11-rebound outing pushed her career total to 6,588 points, overtaking Candace Parker's 6,574 early in the third quarter to claim 10th on the WNBA's all-time scoring list.
Pauline Astier chipped in 19 points for New York, while Sabrina Ionescu added 15. Jonquel Jones, the 2026 WNBA All-Star Game MVP, struggled with just eight points on 2-for-11 shooting.
The result snaps a run of Liberty dominance in the head-to-head this season - New York had beaten Las Vegas twice already, including once for the Commissioner's Cup title. Chelsea Gray fouled out late with 16 points for the Aces.
Boxing legend Floyd Mayweather was courtside for the action. Next up, the Liberty travel to Phoenix on Saturday, while the Aces host Chicago.
