Werder Bremen extend injured Siems' contract

Bremen back Siems through rehab

SV Werder Bremen have confirmed that Caroline Siems has signed a new deal to stay at the club. The length of the extension has not been revealed.

It's a significant show of faith from the Bundesliga side, given that Siems has been sidelined for the best part of two seasons. She made 13 appearances during 2024/25 before her campaign was cut short, and a serious knee injury then ruled her out for the entirety of 2025/26.

The 27-year-old remains unavailable as the new season gets under way, but is working hard on her rehabilitation with the aim of returning to competitive action, as Soccerdonna reports.

A well-travelled career

Siems came through the ranks at FC Viktoria 1889 Berlin before joining the first team at 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam in 2016/17. A move abroad followed, with a spell at Aston Villa WFC in England, before she returned to Germany to play for Bayer 04 Leverkusen ahead of her switch to Bremen.

She has spoken of her gratitude for the club's backing during what has been a lengthy and testing recovery period, and says her full focus is on getting back on the pitch.
