Bristol City Women have a new boss - and she's not hanging about. Hannah Buckley has stepped in as chief executive with a clear mission: turn the club into a fully independent operation, separate from the men's side.
With more than two decades in football under her belt, Buckley is focused on building proper infrastructure and services from the ground up. It's a big job, but apparently that's rather the point.
Since Mercury13 completed their takeover, the workforce has doubled. That's not just a vanity stat - Buckley has stressed the importance of establishing back-office functions that were previously handled by Bristol Sport.
The training ground has also seen upgrades, including improvements to the pitch itself. Small steps, perhaps, but essential ones.
Recruitment has been busy too. Australian defender Alexia Apostolakis and Finnish forward Lotta Lindström headline the new arrivals, both bringing international experience and, crucially, promotion-level ambition.
Head coach Charlotte Healy rounds out the refresh, as The Guardian reports. Healy's priorities are clear: shore up the defence, build consistency, and push for a higher league finish this season.
