Back in full training

FC Bayern star Giulia Gwinn is on the verge of a competitive return after completing her recovery from shoulder surgery carried out in May. The defender has been given the all-clear by medical staff and is back in full team training, expressing confidence that she will be available for selection in the near future, as Sport1 reports.

Bayern's strong start

Bayern opened their league campaign with a win over Union Berlin and now turn their attention to a home fixture against FSV Mainz 05 next Monday. A trip to SC Freiburg follows on 6 September. Gwinn will be hoping to feature in one - or both - of those ties.

Big ambitions ahead

The German international has set her sights high for the season. Bayern have claimed back-to-back domestic doubles, and Gwinn believes the squad is edging closer to competing at the very top in the Champions League.
