Spanish defender Oihane Valdezate has completed a move to the Chicago Stars, penning a deal through the end of the 2026 NWSL season. The 26-year-old arrives after her contract with AS Roma expired in June, as Soccerdonna reports.
Valdezate's three-year stint in Italy was anything but quiet. She helped Roma lift both the Serie A Women title and the Coppa Italia in her debut campaign - then repeated the trick. In 2025/26, she featured in eleven league matches, starting every one.
Before Rome, Valdezate spent five seasons in Athletic Club's senior squad after progressing through the Bilbao side's youth ranks, which she joined in 2016 from local outfit Pauldarrak. She debuted for the first team in April 2019 and racked up 122 competitive appearances before heading abroad in the summer of 2023.
Valdezate has represented Spain at U19 and U23 level but is still waiting for a senior call-up - something a strong showing in the NWSL could well accelerate.
