Sprung swaps Sweden for Serie A

Swedish midfielder Bea Sprung has completed a move to US Sassuolo Calcio, leaving Hammarby behind for a new chapter in Italian football. The 21-year-old's contract length has not been made public by the Serie A side.

Sprung departs Hammarby having made 29 competitive appearances, netting twice - one of those a memorable strike in a Stockholm derby against AIK. She was also part of the squad that lifted the Swedish Cup in 2026, as Soccerdonna reports.

A decorated youth career

Sprung's footballing journey began at Stattena IF and Fortuna FF before she joined FC Rosengård's youth setup in 2020. Her senior debut came in March 2021, and she went on to claim three Swedish championship titles with Rosengård in 2021, 2022, and 2024, while also featuring in the UEFA Women's Champions League.

She moved from Rosengård to Hammarby in July 2025 and contributed 25 league appearances and three goals across both clubs during that season. In the current Damallsvenskan campaign, she had clocked just 39 minutes before her Italian switch.

Sweden youth pedigree

Internationally, Sprung has represented Sweden at every youth level from U16 to U23. A standout moment came at the 2022 U19 European Championship, where she helped her side reach the semi-finals. She netted her first U23 goal in October 2025 against Scotland.
