The 27-year-old defender brings an end to a 16-year spell at Inter Milan, signing a four-year contract with Parma.

Right-back Beatrice Merlo has ended her 16-year association with Inter Milan, putting pen to paper on a deal with Parma that runs until 30 June 2029. The 27-year-old still had a year left on her Inter contract but has opted for a fresh start.
Born in the city, Merlo cut her teeth in mixed youth football before joining Femminile Inter Milano via Masseroni. She made her Serie A bow at just 14 against Riviera di Romagna and netted her first top-flight goal shortly afterwards against Brescia.
When Inter assumed the sporting rights of Femminile Inter Milano, Merlo stayed on. She helped the club win Serie B in 2018/19, sealing an immediate return to the top tier. Across eight first-team seasons she racked up 159 competitive appearances and five goals.
Last season Merlo featured 26 times for the Italian vice-champions - 18 of those in Serie A Women, with 12 starts and two assists. She also appeared in the Coppa Italia, the Serie A Women's Cup and four European competition fixtures, as Soccerdonna reports.
Merlo claimed third-place finishes with Italy's U17 side at both the 2014 European Championship and World Cup. She went on to represent the U19s at the 2017 and 2018 Euros before earning her senior debut in June 2021 against Austria. She had won six caps by the end of 2025.
