New York Liberty forward Satou Sabally is currently away from the team as she recovers from a concussion - her second in just eight months. The three-time All-Star last took to the court on 23 June, when she sustained the injury during a clash with the Las Vegas Aces.
Her status has since been updated from a concussion to a broader "head" injury designation, and there is no timeline for her return.
Sabally's 2026 campaign has been severely disrupted. She has featured in only 13 games, averaging a career-low 10.4 points per contest. Her absence is compounded by the unavailability of teammate Leonie Fiebich, leaving the Liberty shorthanded for their upcoming fixture against the Sparks.
The franchise handed Sabally a two-year deal, but persistent fitness concerns now cast doubt over her availability for the rest of the season - and potentially beyond. Head coach Chris DeMarco has stressed that player wellbeing takes priority, while expressing optimism that Sabally will eventually rejoin the squad.
