Angel Reese delivered the finest individual performance of her professional career to fire the Atlanta Dream into the 2026 WNBA playoffs. In a commanding 99-89 victory over the Phoenix Mercury, the 24-year-old poured in 31 points - a new career high - while hauling down 14 rebounds, recording four steals and adding two assists.
The result sealed Atlanta's fourth straight playoff appearance and their 12th in franchise history. For Reese, though, it was entirely new territory. Having spent her first two seasons with the Chicago Sky without reaching the postseason, she was visibly thrilled to finally punch her ticket.
Social media wasted no time christening Reese with a fresh moniker. Fans dubbed her 'Playoff Barbie' - a playful evolution of 'Bayou Barbie', the nickname she earned during her college days at LSU.
Reese has made it clear that simply reaching the playoffs is not enough. She wants a championship with the Dream. The numbers back up her confidence: she is averaging 16.3 points per game and leads the entire league with 12 rebounds per contest.
The Dream face the LA Sparks tonight in their third and final meeting of the season. Tip-off at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles is set for 10:00 PM ET, with live coverage available on Peacock.
