Three rookies and a Solheim Cup veteran make up Anna Nordqvist's captain's picks as Europe gear up for September's clash at Bernardus Golf.

Anna Nordqvist has dropped her bombshell. The European captain has named her four captain's picks for the 2026 Solheim Cup - and three of them are complete rookies.
Leona Maguire, a proven performer in the competition, headlines the selections. She's joined by Julia Lopez Ramirez, Nastasia Nadaud, and Mimi Rhodes, none of whom have Solheim Cup experience.
The automatic qualification race delivered chaos. Chiara Tamburlini held a slim 1.1-point lead over Helen Briem entering the AIG Women's Open at Royal Lytham & St Annes - then missed the cut entirely.
That opened the door for Esther Henseleit. Already safe via her world ranking, she birdied the final hole to force a playoff against Shiho Kuwaki. She lost on the second extra hole but had done enough to leapfrog Tamburlini in the European points list, finishing behind only Charley Hull.
Hull and Henseleit claimed the two European Solheim Cup points spots. Lottie Woad - who could have bumped Tamburlini herself but finished tied sixth - confirmed her debut through the world rankings instead.
Celine Boutier, Carlota Ciganda, Maja Stark, Linn Grant, and Nanna Koerstz Madsen round out the automatic qualifiers. Koerstz Madsen grabbed the final rankings spot.
Nordqvist's gamble on youth is unmistakable. Three rookies in four picks is a statement of intent ahead of the September 11-13 showdown at Bernardus Golf in the Netherlands.
Whether it's bravery or recklessness remains to be seen on Dutch soil.
