Bristol City have snapped up 21-year-old centre-back Brooke Aspin on a permanent deal, bringing her back to familiar turf after a spell with Chelsea.
Aspin first joined the Robins at just 14 and made her senior bow two years later. She knows the place well - and the place knows her.
During a loan stint at Bristol City in 2023-2024, Aspin racked up 17 league appearances. Her highlight? A goal against West Ham that helped seal the club's first victory of that campaign. Not a bad way to endear yourself to the fans.
Things took a painful turn in November 2024 when Aspin suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury, sidelining her for months. She completed her rehab at Chelsea, training alongside some of the finest players in the league - a silver lining, at least, as reported by WSL Football.
Bristol City's defence has been thinned out by the departures of Mari Ward and Harley Bennett, making Aspin's arrival particularly well-timed. She slots in as a ready-made solution at the back.
The Robins kick off their BWSL2 season on 6 September against Sunderland. If Aspin is fit and firing, expect her name on the teamsheet.
