Career-first double tiebreak triumph

Iga Swiatek ground out a hard-fought victory over 25th seed Marie Bouzkova at the US Open, prevailing 7-6 (3), 7-6 (3) in a gruelling contest that stretched to two hours and 27 minutes. It marked the first time in Swiatek's career that she has won two tiebreaks in the same match.

The Pole was pushed to her limits, enduring punishing rallies and saving three set points in the second set against Bouzkova's dogged defensive game. Swiatek acknowledged the physical toll but described the win as one of the more satisfying moments of her season so far.

Dominant record intact

Swiatek's perfect WTA Tour record against Bouzkova now stands at 4-0, remarkably without dropping a single set. She has also won 13 of her last 14 matches, her sole defeat coming against Jessica Pegula in the Cincinnati semi-finals.

Olympic champion awaits
