Louisville's woeful run

Racing Louisville's form reads WDLLL over their last five. A 2-1 win at Angel City on 27 July snapped a dreadful run of three straight defeats - a 4-0 hammering at Portland, a 2-0 home loss to Bay FC, and a 1-1 draw with Houston that felt like a defeat. Rookie Maja Lardner netted both goals against Angel City, offering a rare spark. Still, Louisville average just 1.2 goals per game and have failed to keep a single clean sheet all season - zero in 15 matches. That defensive fragility is alarming.

Chicago can't buy a goal

The Red Stars' problems are even starker in attack. They have scored just eight goals in 16 games - an average of 0.5 per match. Their record of 12 shutouts suffered this season is extraordinary, and they have now failed to score in consecutive matches on at least 17 occasions, a league record. Away from home, the numbers are truly dire: one goal in eight matches. Their recent form of LLLWL includes blanks against Boston Legacy (0-2), Angel City (0-2), and Orlando Pride (0-1).

Head-to-head favours Louisville

The recent history between these two tilts heavily toward Racing Louisville. They are unbeaten in three of the last four meetings, winning 1-0 at Chicago in both May and March 2025, and thrashing the Red Stars 3-1 at home in August 2024. The only blot was a 1-1 draw at Louisville last October. Chicago's sole win in the series came back in October 2023.

Home advantage matters

Louisville's home record offers some encouragement - two wins and two draws from seven matches, with 1.4 goals scored per game compared to just one on the road. Chicago, conversely, have been wretched travellers: one win in eight away fixtures with only a single goal scored. That contrast alone could prove decisive.
