Putellas sparkles on debut

Two-time Ballon d'Or winner Alexia Putellas wore the captain's armband for the very first time as London City Lionesses kicked off their WSL campaign with a 2-1 triumph over Manchester United at the Copperjax Community Stadium.

An own goal from Julia Zigiotti Olme gave London City the lead, and Daniëlle van de Donk doubled the advantage in the second half. United, under new management, barely threatened - their first shot on target didn't arrive until the 97th minute. Ouch.
