Gambone's diving header sinks Royals

Boston Legacy snatched all three points on the road after Aleigh Gambone powered home a dramatic late winner in a 2-1 victory over the Utah Royals on Friday night.

Aïssata Traoré had given Legacy the lead in the 10th minute, pouncing on a rebound to make it 1-0. Utah hit back quickly - goalkeeper Mandy McGlynn picked out Kiana Palacios with a sharp assist, and the forward levelled in the 17th minute.

The decisive moment arrived in the 86th minute. Defender Nicki Hernandez whipped in a pinpoint cross and Gambone met it with a diving header that left McGlynn stranded.

Kansas City snatch late win too

It was a night for last-gasp heroics elsewhere in the NWSL. Kansas City Current edged Bay FC 2-1 thanks to Rocky Rodríguez's 89th-minute strike, set up by Croix Bethune.

Izzy Rodriguez had given Kansas City an early advantage, scoring directly from a corner in the 11th minute. Karlie Lema pulled Bay FC level just before the break, but Rodríguez ensured the Current took the spoils, as reported by AP.
