Österås battles back from double injury

Nightmare start turns to relief

When AIK unveiled Emilie Libakken Österås last December, the Norwegian arrived billed as a versatile midfielder ready to make an immediate impact. Instead, injuries to both feet derailed her plans almost before they had begun.

Weeks on the sidelines followed - a gruelling spell the player herself has described as "very tough". Yet with the backing of her AIK teammates through a lengthy rehabilitation, Österås gradually found her way back to competitive action.

Victory at Skytteholm

On Friday evening she made her third appearance in an AIK shirt, helping the side to a 1-0 win over Brommapojkarna at Skytteholm. It was another small but significant step on a comeback trail that has demanded patience and resilience in equal measure.

Eyes on what comes next

Österås has been candid about the difficulty of regaining match fitness after such a prolonged absence, but she senses momentum building with each outing. Her focus now is firmly on continued improvement and establishing herself in the Damallsvenskan.
