Shakira Austin's 21-point, 11-rebound, five-block display powered the Mystics past Atlanta, while Angel Reese grabbed 16 boards but shot just 1-for-12.
AIWashington's Shakira Austin delivered a commanding performance - 21 points, 11 rebounds and five blocks - as the Mystics held off a spirited Atlanta comeback to win 79-74 on Friday night.
The Mystics appeared comfortable with a 64-48 cushion heading into the final period, but the Dream clawed back to within three at 77-74 with just 32.3 seconds on the clock. Austin then hit a contested shot in the lane to put the result beyond doubt.
The victory extended Washington's winning streak to six, equalling the franchise record set by the 2019 championship squad. The Mystics were also dominant defensively, racking up 12 blocks in total - including nine in the first half alone, another franchise best for a single half.
Angel Reese hauled in 16 rebounds but endured a brutal shooting display, converting just one of her 12 attempts for seven points. Allisha Gray carried the Dream's offence with 26 points - her 15th 20-point outing this season - while Rhyne Howard chipped in 19. Kiki Iriafen added 15 points for Washington.
Atlanta travel to face Toronto on Monday, while the Mystics host Phoenix on Sunday as they look to set a new franchise record.
