Coco Gauff made light work of 29th seed Maria Sakkari at the National Bank Open, dispatching the Greek 6-1, 6-4 in just 76 minutes to book her place in the last 16.

Dominant display despite late resistance

Gauff was firmly in control throughout, racing through the opening set before Sakkari mounted a brief fightback late in the second. It proved insufficient, however, as the American closed out the match with composure, as WTA reports.

The result extends Gauff's winning streak over Sakkari to four matches - all completed in straight sets - and lifts her head-to-head record to 7-5 on the tour.

Korneeva awaits in Round of 16

Next up for Gauff is 19-year-old Alina Korneeva, who earned her spot by knocking out 13th seed Iva Jovic earlier in the draw. It promises to be a stern test against a player clearly growing in confidence on the big stage.
