Swedish forward Loreta Kullashi is back in the Damallsvenskan after a three-year spell abroad in Italy and Spain, signing with childhood club AIK for the current campaign.
The move was driven by more than football. Kullashi said the timing felt right to return, with a strong pull towards being closer to family and friends. While she valued her time overseas, the desire to come home ultimately won out.
Despite interest from other Swedish sides, Kullashi insisted AIK was the only option. It is the club where she grew up - though she had not lived in Stockholm for some time, having previously represented Eskilstuna United and FC Rosengård.
Her comeback hit an early snag. After a brief outing against Kristianstads DFF, an injury ruled her out of subsequent matches. She remains optimistic about returning to action soon.
Kullashi has her sights firmly set on earning a recall to the Swedish national team, where she has three goals in eight caps. She believes playing domestically gives her greater visibility and a stronger platform to force her way back into contention, as Fotbollskanalen reports.
