Manchester United have handed Eva Olid the reins of their women's team - and in doing so, helped tip the balance of power on WSL touchlines firmly towards female coaches.
The 40-year-old Spaniard penned a two-year deal on 5 August, with the option to extend for a further season. She replaces Marc Skinner, who departed by mutual consent.
Olid is no stranger to silverware. Across five seasons at Hearts in Edinburgh, she transformed the club, delivering a first-ever Scottish Women's Premier League title last term. That campaign set records for both wins and goals. She also steered Hearts to their maiden Scottish Cup final. Not bad for a CV.
Here's the historic bit. Olid's appointment means eight of the WSL's fourteen clubs will be coached by women in 2026/27 - a first in the league's history, as highlighted by Footeuses.
The full roster of female head coaches reads: Renée Slegers (Arsenal), Natalia Arroyo (Aston Villa), Amy Merricks (Birmingham City), Karen Hills (Charlton Athletic), Sonia Bompastor (Chelsea), Jo Potter (Crystal Palace), Rita Guarino (West Ham United) - and now Olid at Old Trafford.
About time the majority matched the name of the league, really.
