Swedish duo up for football's biggest coaching prize

The 2026 Ballon d'Or shortlist dropped on Tuesday, and two Swedish coaches have earned their place among the world's elite. Elena Sadiku of BK Häcken and Andrée Jeglertz of Manchester City are both in contention for the prestigious award.

Title-winning campaigns

Jeglertz guided Manchester City to a landmark Women's Super League title, capping more than two decades in coaching. He is widely praised for an empathetic leadership approach that has galvanised the squad.

Sadiku, meanwhile, stepped into the hot seat at BK Häcken following Mak Lind's departure - and wasted no time making her mark. She led the club to its first ever Europa Cup trophy, a remarkable feat for a side founded in 1970.

Who else made the cut?

In the women's coaching category, Pere Romeu (Barcelona), Nils Nielsen (Japan national team) and Jonatan Giraldez (Lyon) complete the list. On the men's side, Mikael Arteta (Arsenal), Luis de la Fuente (Spain), Unai Emery (Aston Villa), Vincent Kompany (Bayern Munich) and Luis Enrique (PSG) are all nominated.

The winner will be revealed on 26 October.
