Orschmann heads to Switzerland

Katja Orschmann has called time on her spell at 1. FC Union Berlin, departing the women's team for Swiss top-flight side FC Luzern. Remarkably, it marks the third occasion the 28-year-old defender has left the capital club.

A decade of dedication

Orschmann's ties to Union Berlin stretch back to 2013, when she and twin sister Dina joined the youth setup. She stepped up to the first team a season later and went on to amass 115 league appearances - a significant haul that underlines her importance to the side.

A three-year stint at Turbine Potsdam II followed her first departure in 2017, but she returned to Union in the summer of 2020 and played a key role in the club's journey from the Regionalliga all the way up to the Bundesliga.

In her maiden Bundesliga campaign, Orschmann featured 14 times and found the net once, as Soccerdonna reports.

After nine and a half years in total wearing the red and white, Orschmann now embarks on a fresh chapter in Luzern.
