Fantasy football managers, rejoice. That annoying rule you thought was cramping your style? Turns out it was just plain wrong.
The published game rules had previously claimed that once your captain had played, you were stuck with her. No take-backs, no second thoughts. But that, as it happens, was a load of nonsense.
The corrected rule is far more forgiving. You can indeed swap your captain even after she's taken to the pitch - provided the match day's points haven't been finalised yet.
There's a catch, though. You can't hand the armband to a player who has already featured. Only your final captain selection will receive the coveted double points, as WSL Football has confirmed.
Nothing in life is truly free, of course. Changing your captain counts as a manual change, which means automatic substitutions get switched off for the rest of that match week. So choose wisely.
The rules page, help sections, and in-game copy have all been updated to reflect the correction. Better late than never.
