Club rallies behind Picchi

Italian side Como 1907 have confirmed that forward Roberta Picchi has been diagnosed with breast cancer after undergoing a series of medical tests.

The 34-year-old will now begin treatment, with the club pledging full support through its medical staff and external specialists. In a gesture of solidarity, Como have extended Picchi's contract through to the end of the 2027/28 season, vowing to stand by her and her family throughout her recovery.

Key figure in historic promotion

Picchi arrived at Como from Chievo Verona ahead of the 2025/26 campaign and quickly became a vital presence. She featured in 23 Serie B matches last season, netting three goals as Como clinched the title and secured promotion to Serie A Women for the first time in the club's history.

Como have asked that the player's privacy be respected as she focuses on treatment and recovery, as Soccerdonna reports.
