Ollie Bearman was the fastest driver on the post-season F2 test
The Yas Marina Circuit witnessed an enthralling display of speed and strategy as PREMA Racing's Oliver Bearman clinched the top spot on the first day of Formula 2's post-season testing.
In an afternoon session marked by competitiveness and skill, Bearman posted a blistering 1:36.092 on soft Pirelli tyres, asserting his dominance in the field. Close behind, teammate Andrea Kimi Antonelli showcased his racing prowess, trailing by a mere 0.165 seconds, reinforcing PREMA's top-tier status in the world of Formula 2 racing.
Earlier in the day, the action-packed morning session was led by Victor Martins of ART Grand Prix, who clocked a 1:36.852 on medium tyres. However, the session was not without its challenges, as numerous Red Flags punctuated the track activity. Oliver Goethe of Trident encountered difficulties early on, causing the first stoppage of the day.
Juan Manuel Correa initially set the pace for DAMS, but the session was frequently interrupted by stoppages, including incidents involving Enzo Fittipaldi and Ritomo Miyata. Despite these setbacks, the drivers pushed their limits, with Martins eventually taking the lead for ART Grand Prix.

The afternoon session commenced with renewed vigour. Ritomo Miyata initially set the pace, but it was soon eclipsed by Paul Aron of Hitech Pulse-Eight. As the session progressed, PREMA Racing's duo of Bearman and Antonelli began to make their mark, with Bearman briefly losing the top spot to Antonelli before the latter's time was invalidated for exceeding track limits.
