Victoria Pelova has crossed one of north London's fiercest divides - and lived to tell the tale. The 27-year-old Dutch midfielder has swapped Arsenal for Tottenham Hotspur, admitting she was genuinely nervous about breaking the news to her old squad.
She needn't have worried. Her former teammates responded with warmth, as The Guardian reports.
Pelova's stint at Arsenal was far from straightforward. An anterior cruciate ligament injury curtailed her playing time significantly, though her infectious personality kept her firmly in supporters' hearts.
Fun, funny, and frustratingly sidelined - that was the story of her time in red.
According to Pelova, it wasn't a difficult choice at all. Coach Martin Ho's positive approach and crystal-clear vision for her role sealed the deal. She also credited her mother's opinion as a crucial factor in the decision.
Tragically, Pelova recently lost her mother - a blow she described as deeply significant. The support of friends and family has helped her through.
Pelova says she feels rejuvenated in her new surroundings. Training intensity has impressed her, and she's already building bonds with teammates as the squad gears up for competitive action.
And yes, she's already circled the calendar. A reunion with Arsenal later in the season is one fixture she won't need reminding about.
