England's first-choice goalkeeper Hannah Hampton has signed a new two-year deal at Chelsea, extending her stay at the club where she has won five trophies since joining from Aston Villa in 2023. Hampton, who claimed back-to-back WSL Golden Glove awards, described Chelsea as her dream club.
Gotham FC beat Washington Spirit 1-0 in front of more than 42,000 fans, with Rose Lavelle scoring the only goal. Defender Kaleigh Kurtz set NWSL records for consecutive regular-season appearances (129) and unbroken minutes (11,682), while Seattle Reign boss Laura Harvey became the first coach to reach 100 wins with a single NWSL club.
Morgan Weaver made an emotional return for Portland Thorns after 621 days out with chronic knee injuries. However, Jordyn Huitema suffered a season-ending injury during Chicago Stars' defeat to Angel City FC, and Emily Sonnett picked up a non-contact injury in Gotham's clash with the Thorns.

Leanne Kiernan has joined Newcastle United from Liverpool for an undisclosed fee after scoring 23 goals in 76 appearances for the Reds. Belgian defender Sari Kees has left relegated Leicester City to sign a three-year deal with Ajax. Watford snapped up winger Karin Muya on a free from promotion winners Charlton Athletic.
In Italy, seven-time Serie A champion Valentina Cernoia has dropped down to Serie B side Genoa from AC Milan. AS Roma have been busy, signing defender Bianca Vergani from Napoli until 2030, Canadian winger Ella Ottey from the University of Wisconsin until 2029, and American midfielder Maya Doms from Sassuolo until 2029. Sassuolo extended injured El Salvador midfielder Samantha Fisher's contract to 2027, signed Swedish midfielder Bea Sprung from Hammarby, while Parma landed Danish teenager Signe Søndergård and Juventus loanee Cecilia Cavallin. Napoli signed Finnish goalkeeper Sofia Manner from AFC Toronto.
In Germany, Marie Steiner extended her contract at TSG Hoffenheim until 2029, Pernille Sanvig completed a permanent move from Eintracht Frankfurt to BK Häcken, and BSC Young Boys signed Ghanaian forward Josephine Bonsu from FC Carl Zeiss Jena.
The 2026-27 Frauen-Bundesliga season will kick off on 21 August with FC Bayern hosting 1. FC Union Berlin. VfL Wolfsburg will begin with a run of away fixtures due to stadium renovations, while VfB Stuttgart make their top-flight debut against TSG Hoffenheim on 23 August. VfB Stuttgart have confirmed Germany's oldest active football ground, Gazi-Stadion, as their home for the campaign.

The Subway Women's League Cup has been renamed the Subway Players Cup from the 2026-27 season, featuring a new Swiss-style league phase with regional fixtures. The three WSL clubs in European competition will not participate. The league phase draw takes place on 6 August, with the final set for the weekend of 13-14 March 2027.
RC Lens will remain in the Arkema Première Ligue after Dijon FCO Féminin declined to appeal a DNCG ruling barring them from national competition. Lens had been relegated on goal difference alone.

Top seed Ekaterina Alexandrova collapsed on court during her first-round match at the Memphis Tennis Classic and was forced to retire while trailing 16-year-old qualifier Kristina Liutova 5-4 in the deciding set. The Ukrainian-born teenager, ranked world No. 229, became only the second player born in 2010 to claim a tour-level win.
