Manner signs for Napoli Women

Finnish keeper heads south

Napoli Women have secured the services of Finnish goalkeeper Sofia Manner on a deal running until 30 June 2028. The 28-year-old arrives after parting ways with AFC Toronto, bringing a wealth of experience from across three continents.

Strong spell in Canada

Manner was ever-present for Toronto, starting all 17 of her league appearances. Her debut campaign saw her rack up 32 saves and two clean sheets as the club topped the Northern Super League's regular season - only to fall short in the final.

The 2026 season brought more of the same consistency. Manner played every minute of six matches, kept two further clean sheets, and chipped in with two assists before her departure.

Mutual agreement paves the way

The move was made possible after Manner and AFC Toronto reached a mutual agreement to terminate her contract in mid-July, clearing the path for a return to European football, Soccerdonna reports.

A well-travelled career

Manner's journey began at HJK Helsinki before she crossed the Atlantic to join the Stony Brook Seawolves, where she earned multiple individual honours. A return to Finland with FC Honka followed in 2021, and after a stint with the Lynn Fighting Knights she rejoined Honka in 2023, earning the Kansallinen Liiga's best goalkeeper award.

She signed with Orlando Pride in December 2023, making one appearance in the NWSL x Liga MX Femenil Summer Cup before heading to AFC Toronto in January 2025.

Youth international pedigree

Manner has represented Finland at U16, U17, and U18 level - experience that adds further depth to Napoli's goalkeeping options.
