Hong Kong gets Asia's richest women's golf event

The LPGA Tour is bringing professional women's golf back to Hong Kong for the first time in over 50 years - and it's doing so with a bang.

The Futu Ladies World Championship, presented by Moomoo, will run from 4-7 March 2027. Its $3.4 million purse makes it the largest in Asian women's golf. That alone should raise eyebrows.

Blue Bay out, Hong Kong in

The new event effectively replaces the Blue Bay LPGA tournament in China. It will slot into the schedule after stops in Thailand and Singapore. Hong Kong hasn't hosted an LPGA event since 1976. That's a staggering 51-year gap.

A stunning venue

The Clearwater Bay Golf and Country Club will host the championship. Opened in 1982, the course overlooks the South China Sea. It has previously staged a PGA Tour Series-China event, but nothing of this calibre.

Moomoo backs women's sport

Global investment platform Moomoo has signed a multi-year deal with the LPGA to support the tournament and push women's sport forward across Asia. Whether that ambition translates into lasting impact remains to be seen - but the money is real.
