Gauff dominates Pegula in straight sets

Coco Gauff stormed to victory at the Cincinnati Open on Sunday, brushing aside compatriot Jessica Pegula 6-2, 6-4 in a final that lasted just one hour and 14 minutes.

It was a commanding display from Gauff, who claimed her first title since October and cemented her place in the tournament's history books as only the third player to win the WTA 1000 event twice - following Serena Williams and Victoria Azarenka.

Head-to-head levelled

The result drew Gauff level with Pegula in their career head-to-head at five apiece. She has now won their last two meetings, a shift in momentum that will not go unnoticed heading into the US Open.
