Indiana Fever forward Damiris Dantas has been ruled out for the remainder of the 2026 WNBA season after undergoing surgery to repair a torn meniscus in her left knee. The Brazilian centre had been sidelined since 17 July and was unable to join her teammates on their most recent road trip.

Dantas featured in 12 games this campaign, posting averages of 3.3 points, 1.5 rebounds and 0.3 assists. The numbers alone don't scream indispensable - but her absence strips coach Stephanie White of a reliable veteran option behind Aliyah Boston in the frontcourt.

Boston will now shoulder an even heavier workload, while the coaching staff scramble to plug the gap in their rotation with 14 regular-season fixtures still to play. Indiana currently sit fifth in the standings.

The Fever's next test comes on Thursday when they host the Las Vegas Aces - a chance to respond after a defeat to the Minnesota Lynx. Without Dantas, White will need creative solutions up front if Indiana are to keep their playoff positioning intact.
